Sleep Score (Coming Soon)
Table of contents
Description
Sleep Score is a single-number summary of your overall sleep quality and quantity, typically generated by a wearable using signals like motion, heart rate, and (sometimes) temperature or oxygen saturation. While different devices compute it differently, the intent is the same: translate a complex night of sleep into a trend-friendly score you can compare across days.
What it usually reflects
Most sleep scores weight some combination of:
Total sleep time
Sleep continuity (awakenings, sleep efficiency)
Sleep depth/architecture (estimated deep/REM proportions)
Recovery signals (resting heart rate, HRV, breathing regularity—device dependent)
How to use it
Treat Sleep Score as a trend metric, not a diagnosis. A few low nights are often explained by stress, travel, late meals, alcohol, or illness. A persistently low score is a cue to look for the main drivers (short duration vs fragmentation vs irregular schedule) and address the highest-leverage behaviors first.
Common reasons scores drop
Late caffeine, alcohol, inconsistent sleep timing, overheating, screens late at night, and heavy training load without recovery can all reduce sleep quality signals.
Educational only, not medical advice. If low scores track with loud snoring, gasping, severe daytime sleepiness, or frequent awakenings, consider clinical evaluation for sleep disorders.
